A judge recently ordered the Federal Bureau of Investigation to: hand over the manifesto The Tennessee Star, a local news outlet, reported on the perpetrator of the Covenant School shooting as a lawsuit filed continues.
U.S. District Judge Aleta Trauger orders the FBI to turn over the suicide note of a 28-year-old transgender woman who shot and killed three children and three adults at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 27, 2023. . The suspect was shot and killed by police at the scene.
Authorities have repeatedly refused to release the shooter’s manifesto to the public, sparking a state-level lawsuit that is currently pending in court.
Metropolitan Nashville police seized documents from the shooter’s car, including a handwritten map of the school. The FBI said that releasing the documents to the public “would reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.”
In the wake of the tragedy, the Tennessee Star filed a public records request for the article, which the FBI denied. The news organization responded by filing a federal lawsuit against the agency seeking release of the documents.
The complaint says the manifesto has been hidden “long enough” that “the public has no way of knowing why this tragedy happened, how we can prevent future events, and addressing this and other issues.” “There is an urgent right to know what policies should be put in place to do so.” A similar tragedy. ”
“Documents are public records and should be released. Metro government didn’t release them. We asked them politely, but they didn’t. They shared those documents with the FBI. “And we asked politely, according to the law. If a government agency doesn’t comply with the law, we can sue through the courts,” said Michael Leahy of the Tennessee Star. WZTV report.
“While we initially thought we had a good chance of obtaining the documents through the state process, there are a number of parties who do not want these documents released and are taking legal action to prevent them from being released. I think that’s against the law’ public interest,” Leahy explained.
The FBI tried to dismiss the case, but Judge Trauger ruled that the FBI could not support its claims with “sufficient clarity or detail.” A judge ordered authorities to turn over the shooter’s documents for review before deciding whether to release them.
“The FBI is ordered to unilaterally produce all documents that may satisfy defendants’ Freedom of Information Act requests for camera reviews, except that, based on plaintiffs’ concessions in this case, “The FBI was not required to produce any documents that could not reasonably be interpreted as relating to Audrey Hale’s motives,” Trauger wrote in the ruling.
Blaze News previously reported that in November, Louder with Crowder released three pages purported to be the shooter’s manifesto. The leaked manifesto contained a schedule for the day of the attack, which the gunman called the “day of death.”
“I hope the death toll is high,” the gunman wrote. “Let the massacre begin…Time2die.”
One of the published pages included the shooter’s hateful ramblings.
“Kill those kids!!!” it read. “Those crackers go to a fancy private school with all those fancy crackers.” [sic] + Sports backpack.with dads [sic] mustang + convertible [sic]”
“Fuck you, you son of a bitch. I want to shoot your weak dick with your mop of yellow hair,” she continued. “I want to kill all the crackers!!! A bunch of white privileged little fagots. [sic] Assholes. ”
The police department has placed seven officers on administrative duty while they investigate who leaked the manifest photo to “Louder with Crowder.” MNPD ultimately closed the investigation after failing to identify the source of the leak.
“An investigation led by the police department’s Office of Professional Responsibility determined that the three cell phone photos were taken shortly after the shooter’s diary was found in his car. Special Investigations Unit Two detectives assigned to the shooting took photos (one detective took two, the other one “He took a photo of the suspect,” the police said.
