JuJu Watkins, a freshman at the University of Southern California, has taken the college basketball world by storm. Her productive season propelled the Trojans women’s basketball team to near the top of the college basketball ranks.
Watkins joins a list of stars in women’s college basketball, led by seniors like Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, LSU’s Angel Reese and UW’s Paige Backers.
Watkins was a multiple-time National Player of the Year during his impressive career as a high school basketball player in California. Basketball Her ability on the court translated smoothly to the college basketball level.

Watkins broke nearly every USC women’s basketball record this season as she rose to stardom.
The Trojans finished the season on a strong note, winning 12 of their last 13 games, and are preparing for Saturday’s game against Texas A&M University and Corpus Christi in the first round of the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament.

USC basketball legend Sheryl Miller has been an integral part of USC games this season. The Trojans’ comeback season attracted multiple music stars, actors, and professional athletes, from Kevin Hart to LeBron James.

With the start of March Madness looming at USC, Miller encouraged Watkins to take time to find ways to avoid “mental fatigue.”
“I want you to find a quiet space with no one around.” [is], exhale here…I’m not worried about anything physical. “You’re a young child and your body is still growing,” Miller told Watkins during a meeting with Andscape. “But what I’m concerned about is mental fatigue. It’s not basketball… it’s the business side. That’s what I need you to do, to find a quiet space.”
USC enters the NCAA Tournament as the No. 1 seed in the Portland 3 Region. The Trojans haven’t reached the Final Four since 1986, Miller’s senior season.

Watkins averaged 27 points, 7.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game during the regular season. Clark, the all-time leading scorer in NCAA Division I men’s and women’s basketball, is the only player to average more points than Watkins this season.
