Man pleads guilty to smuggling migrants across US border through sewer pipes

Federal prosecutors announced that a 20-year-old man living in Mexico has pleaded guilty to illegally allowing seven immigrants to enter the United States through a sewer pipe in southern California.

Kevin Noe Campos-Villa faces a possible 10 years in prison and $250,000 in fines after his January arrest, during which time several immigrants he was escorting were transported to San Diego, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Campos, a Tijuana resident, was taken into custody by Border Patrol agents during heavy rain on January 22, about three miles west of the San Ysidro port of entry, prosecutors said.
