Spanish woman murdered at mother’s New York City apartment, she was stuffed into a duffle bag until her son found her dead body

Two squatters are suspected of carrying out the brutal murder of a woman in New York City, police said. A multi-state investigation has been launched to catch the suspected killer.

Nadia Vitel reportedly flew from Spain to New York City to prepare her late mother’s Manhattan apartment for a family friend to move into. new york post. Vitel’s mother passed away a few months ago, and her apartment had been vacant for about three to four months.

Investigators said Vitel went to his mother’s apartment and was ambushed by two squatters living inside. The suspects, a man and a woman, allegedly threw Vitel against a wooden wall.

“We believe some squatters took over the apartment, and this woman came home and invaded the squatters who were there,” NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenney said.

Mr Kenny said the apartment, located in the Kips Bay area, was “high-end”.

“The apartment itself is very unique in that there is no front door to the apartment. You take the elevator up and then you press the key to get in. The elevator is actually the front door,” Kenny says. said.

Paramedics pronounced Vitel dead at the scene.

The suspects allegedly stole Beitel’s Lexus and drove to New Jersey and then Pennsylvania. Police found the Lexus involved in an accident in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Vitel’s teenage son became worried about his mother after not hearing from her for two days, so he went to his grandmother’s apartment on March 14. He believed his mother was in the apartment because they had been tracking each other’s locations with a mobile phone app.

“As we were getting ready to leave, my son opened the closet door near the front door and discovered a duffel bag with its legs sticking out,” Kenny said.

Inside the duffel bag was the body of Medvedev’s mother.

Jean Pompey, the building’s manager, said: WCBS TV“The man pointed to the closet and said he believed there was a body in the bag. And all of her clothes were down, so you couldn’t really see the bag. Partially, just a little bit. I saw.”

Officials said Vitel died from blunt force trauma to the head, multiple facial fractures, bleeding on the brain and two broken ribs.

Investigations are underway in multiple states to find the suspected squatters.

After wrecking the Lexus, the suspects visited several car dealerships in Pennsylvania and tried to buy new cars for $1,000, police said.

According to the New York City Police Department, the suspects are a man and a woman in their 20s. One of the squatters is said to have been arrested before.

“At this time, we have probable cause, there are two subjects of interest, and the Regional Fugitive Task Force is actively searching for them as we speak,” Kenney said.
