MTG Motion to Vacate Could Force Speaker Johnson to Work with Dems on Foreign Aid

CNN commentator Adam Kinzinger spoke Friday on CNN’s “Newsroom” about the motion by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) to remove House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana). He said doing so could force him to reach an agreement with Democrats on foreign aid.

“It’s ironic because now they’re complaining about this bill,” Kinzinger said, “mainly because this year was spent on frivolous investigations promoted by the Freedom Caucus. That’s because the Freedom Caucus was focused on getting rid of Joe Biden. So, frankly, with such a narrow majority, there’s not much of an opportunity to negotiate some kind of deal, and it’s unlikely that Democrats will The idea that you don’t get anything is pretty ridiculous. And this is just how government works.”

He added: “So she’s going to file a motion to step down?” I don’t know how, but I think it might be interesting to see if she sees if Mike Johnson says, “Okay, I’m late then.” This is because the motion to leave can be delayed. By the way, since you’re doing that, the next bill that I’m going to put on the floor before I go into recess is the Senate Foreign Assistance Bill, and that’s going to be an interesting response. And then Democrats could step in openly to save Johnson’s motion to resign, and we’ll see if he follows through on it. I don’t know if he has the courage to do that, but we’ll see. ”
