A maniac who snatched the severed leg of a man who had just been killed by a train in California has been arrested, police said Friday.
The man removed the limb from the tracks at a local Amtrak train station in Wasco, a city about 25 miles (40 kilometers) northwest of Bakersfield.
Wild video posted on X It shows a sick man in the middle of the sidewalk carefully examining his feet and appearing to sniff them.
He appeared oblivious to responding police and bewildered bystanders filming the riot, waving briefly when he spotted the camera.

The deranged man then took off with his legs, casually swinging them around as police closed in.
According to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office, authorities identified the man as 27-year-old Recendo Telles and arrested him on suspicion of taking evidence from the scene on multiple outstanding warrants.
A pedestrian was struck by a train at the same station just before 8 a.m., leaving the unidentified victim dead and his leg severed, officials said.
This incident is under investigation.
