A man who apparently ate a severed human leg after stealing it from the scene of a train wreck was arrested in Wasco, California, on Friday, video footage shows.
A video posted online showed a man believed to be 27-year-old Recendo Telles walking around with his severed leg before being arrested by authorities. The man, wearing a large red jacket and baggy black sweatpants, was seen brandishing what appeared to be a human leg, and then reportedly took a small bite to examine it.
As the video continues, the man can be seen turning around, looking toward the street, and attempting to walk away as multiple police cars can be seen and heard approaching him. (Related: Shocking video of Amazon van split in half by train impact)

A 27-year-old man was arrested after authorities learned he was suspected of removing a human leg from a scene at Amtrak’s Wasco station. according to Head to Bakersfield now. Prior to Telles’ arrest, the Kern County Sheriff’s Department and Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad Police received a call around 8 a.m. that a pedestrian had been struck by a train, killed and had one leg amputated. Officials also noted that the pedestrian was hit in front of the train platform. according to ABC Bakersfield 23. According to arrest records, Telles was charged with a misdemeanor count of “removing human body parts from a non-cemetery without permission from law enforcement,” the newspaper reported.
