Russian missiles entered Polish airspace on Sunday as the Russian military launched a series of airstrikes against targets in Ukraine in the wake of a deadly terrorist attack on civilians at a Moscow concert hall.

Russian forces launched 57 missiles into Ukraine, at least one of which passed through Polish airspace before reaching its target. Poland says it has activated its own aircraft and other countermeasures in response to the invasion.

“We demand an explanation from Russia regarding the new airspace violations,” senior Polish officials said on Sunday.

“Above all, we call on the Russian Federation to stop terrorist airstrikes against the population and territory of Ukraine,” Poland’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.
