Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis told reporters this week that she is the only prosecutor in the country with enough “courage” to prosecute former President Donald Trump in the Georgia election interference case. .
On Saturday, during an Easter event in College Park for families in need, Willis, 52, spoke to the media for the first time since a judge ruled to stay in the case.
“There’s one district attorney across the state and across the country who had the courage to do this, and she’s still doing it,” Willis said. FOX 5 ATLANTA. “This case was brought to Fulton County, not because of anything I did, but because of someone else’s actions. If a case comes into my jurisdiction, I’m going to prosecute it and that’s it. ”

The defense has accused Willis of mishandling the case, claiming he hired special counsel Nathan Wade to profit from prosecuting Trump through a romantic relationship.
Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee said there wasn’t enough evidence to prove those claims, but chided Willis for what he called a “serious error in judgment.”
Judge McAfee allowed lawyers for Trump’s co-defendants to appeal a ruling that allowed Trump to continue the case even after special counsel Wade resigned.

“I’m 52 years old. It’s not very interesting whether I’m in a relationship or not. It’s not cool for anyone and it’s not that sensational,” Willis said.
Willis also told CNN that the prosecution of Trump has not been delayed by proceedings surrounding his relationship.

“I don’t feel like we’ve slowed down at all,” Willis said. “I’m sure they’re trying to slow down the trains, but they’re still coming.”
She also said that she doesn’t think she needs to restore her reputation and has not done anything embarrassing.
“I’m not ashamed of anything I did,” Willis said. “I think my biggest sin was having an affair with a man, but I’m not ashamed of that.”
When asked, “Really?”, the ABC host said he couldn’t believe that Rubio would serve as President Trump’s vice president.
President Trump’s lawyer Steve Sadow criticized Willis on Twitter. I ignored Judge McAfee’s warning. “This is a disqualification order from speaking about this incident in public.”
“Is anyone surprised to hear this?” Sadow tweeted.
In a subsequent tweet, Sadow wrote: “Do political ambition, opportunism and vanity equal courage? No!”
Georgia State University law professor Anthony Michael Kreis, who has been tracking the case, criticized her comments in a post about X.
“If I were Fani Willis, I would not speak to the media at all at this time out of an abundance of caution,” Kreis said.

President Trump has been charged with four felonies, including in separate federal and state lawsuits over efforts to overturn the 2020 election he lost to President Joe Biden, but political opponents have unfairly targeted him. He is fighting to have the lawsuit delayed and dismissed.

Manhattan prosecutor Alvin Bragg is presiding over a criminal trial in which President Trump allegedly paid hush money to an adult film star. New York Attorney General Letitia James sued Trump in October, accusing him of inflating his assets and committing fraud.
