“Footloose” star Kevin Bacon will return to the school where the iconic movie was first filmed 40 years ago on his prom day, Bacon announced on Friday’s Today Show.

According to the Today Show, Bacon called the school from Atlanta on Friday and said he was “very impressed with everything that’s going on there with this crazy idea to bring me back.”
“I was blown away by the amount of effort you all put into this, including musicals, flash mobs, reenactments,” Bacon said, referring to some of the grand gestures the students had planned.
“I didn’t even realize, let alone the fact that you’re joining our foundation, SixDegrees.org, and trying to find ways to give back to the community. It’s really inspiring, thank you. Thank you,” he said. “And I’m going to come. I have to come.”
Bacon will not be attending the actual prom event today, but will instead be visiting the school earlier in the day for an event benefiting Bacon’s charity, SixDegrees.org. was later revealed. According to today.
