While the Biden administration has been unable to find a solution to the crisis at the southern border, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has offered one.
The solution: the United States pledging $20 billion in aid to poor countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, lifting sanctions on Venezuela and the Cuban embargo, and making Mexico law-abiding for millions of people living in the United States. It is about legalizing people.
When Sharyn Alfonsi asked him on “60 Minutes” what would happen if the U.S. didn’t meet his demands, he gave a horrifying answer.
Asked if he thought what he was doing was “diplomatic blackmail”, he said: “The flow of migrants will continue.”
“I speak up. You have to tell it like it is, and I always say what I feel. I always say what I think,” he replied.
Dave Rubin is not funny.
“This is diplomatic blackmail. The president of a country south of us that basically has an open border is basically like giving us $20 billion,” Rubin says. .
The Mexican president also blamed the fentanyl crisis in the United States not on opening borders, but on the United States for creating it. And he blamed American culture for the rampant drug problem.
“Do you know why we don’t have as much drug consumption as we do in the United States? We have customs and traditions and we don’t have the problem of family breakdown,” the president said.
