Louis Gossett Jr., the first black man to win Best Supporting Actor, has died at the age of 87.
Gossett’s nephew told The Associated Press on Friday that Gossett, who also won an Emmy Award for her role on the television series “Roots,” died Thursday night in Santa Monica, California. His cause of death has not yet been announced.
