The teenager descended more than 200 feet from the top of a cliff in an attempt to save his family’s dog, a 3-year-old boxer owned by the American Kennel Club (AKC). I will explain I’m active, bright and love having fun.

The dog, named Wiggy, was separated from his family several days earlier while visiting the area, the sheriff’s office continued.

The family returned several times to look for Wiggy until early Tuesday afternoon. The family said they almost lost hope when they heard Wiggy’s cries coming from below the rocky cliff. The Klamath Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team was activated and responded to Hagelstein Ridge. The SAR team lowered its personnel, who were trained in technical rope rescue, more than 40 feet over the edge of the cliff, leaving them dangling over an additional 80 feet. The team successfully brings the young man and Wiggy back to safety. No one was injured in the rescue operation and everyone was thankful to be back on level ground.

Photos taken at the scene show that Wiggy appeared to be unharmed as rescue workers carried him off the cliff to safety.

According to the sheriff’s office website, the agency’s Mission This is to “protect the lives and property of county residents.” We do this by protecting and serving you. ”
