California Sen. Scott Wiener, a Democrat whose district includes San Francisco, spoke at the event and ridiculed the right-wing backlash.

This year’s “Hunky Jesus” contest was won by a man dressed as “Jesus Ken.” On the back of his Ken doll box was a poem filled with Biblical references and sexual innuendo.

“Is it my destiny to live a plastic, pious life?” the poem says. “I’m Jesus Ken. I can turn water into wine and I can heal you. I’m so holy,” he continued.

Other contestants included “Golden Showers Jesus,” “Jesus Takes the Wheel,” and “Trailer Trash Jesus.”

The costumes for the “Foxy Mary” contest were similarly provocative and profane.

A contestant dressed as “Miscarried Mary” proudly declared, “We’re rewriting history like Jesus never existed,” to applause from the crowd.

Other participants included “Ceasefire If You’re Nasty Mary” and “Immaculate Confectionary Mary,” who had cupcakes pinned to their chests.

In “Maria de la Conception Immaculata,” sexual acts were vividly reenacted on stage in front of an audience.

According to SF Gate, a former sex worker who dressed up as the “Virgin of Prostitutes” won the contest.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence attracted national headlines last May after the Los Angeles Dodgers honored the controversial group at their annual Pride Night. The baseball franchise faced intense backlash from Christians over the decision, including a call for a boycott by the nonprofit advocacy group Catholic Vote.

Amid the backlash, the Dodgers also announced they would hold a “Faith and Family Night” for Christians.
