Trump campaign, RNC hauled in over $65M in March as ex-prez takes on Biden, court cases

President Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee, which will work together for the first time in 2024, raised more than $65.6 million in March and had more than $91.3 million in cash at the end of the month, the Republican said. It was announced on Wednesday.

The presumptive Republican nomination faces an uphill battle to deal with both President Biden’s fundraising efforts and mounting legal costs, with his record campaign haul giving him an edge over Trump. That may allay some of the concerns of supporters.

The Trump team plans to hold a major fundraiser in Palm Beach this weekend, hoping to raise an additional $33 million.

The Biden campaign has not yet released its March tally, but the president raised more than $25 million for his campaign that year at a New York City fundraiser that also included former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Ta.

Biden and the Democratic National Committee announced in February that they had raised $53 million that month and ended the month with $155 million in cash.

The Trump campaign and joint fundraising committee raised $20 million in February and had $42 million in cash by March, according to filings.

Mr. Trump’s coffers were enriched by the RNC’s joint operation in March, in which the RNC collaborated in support of potential Republican candidates. The RNC made major changes to its staffing earlier this month, selecting Trump allies Michael Whatley and Lara Trump as chair and co-chair.

“President Donald J. Trump has once again created a fundraising juggernaut among Republicans. It’s been less than a month since he was nominated as the Republican nominee, but the RNC and Trump campaign have become one united force. We are an operation and focused on winning,” Whatley said in a statement. “We are raising money and making strategic investments to extract votes and protect ballots. We can achieve big wins in just 31 weeks.”

The Trump campaign has acknowledged that it cannot match Biden on a dollar basis, but insisted that Biden will still come out on top in November.

“While the Republican Party may not be the beneficiary of self-serving big money from Hollywood and Silicon Valley elites, President Trump is proud to be supported by donations from voters, the backbone of this country.” “That will likely increase Republican support in the polls.” Susie Wiles, senior adviser to the Trump campaign.

Whatley also expressed confidence that the RNC can win over fence sitters and supporters of former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley to Trump’s side.

Mr. Trump “made it through the primary faster than any other candidate in any contested Republican primary,” Mr. Whatley said Wednesday on Fox Business Network’s “Morning with Maria.”

“We have a lot in store for the convention in July. All the people we have worked with on both sides of the Republican Party, from the Nikki team to the other teams, are all in attendance and the excitement is high. You can see it.”
