Vulnerable Nevada Democrat touts bipartisanship despite voting with Biden 99% of time

The vulnerable Nevada Democrat has touted her bipartisanship and willingness to take on Democrats, but Republicans say her voting record paints a different picture.

In an ad released Monday, incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.) highlights reports that make her one of the most bipartisan members of Congress, saying, “I don’t toe the party line.” ” he added.

“I am not a party leader and I promise to do what is right for Nevada,” she said in the ad.

However, it was revealed that Rosen voted for President Biden 98.6% of the time last year. A FiveThirtyEight analysis of all final votes in which the president announced his position found that Mr. Rosen and fellow Democrat Nevada Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto were on the same page with both Mr. Biden and his own party. It is said that they were virtually on the same page.

Mr. Rosen and Mr. Biden’s agreement appears to have deepened during their time in the Senate. A previous review of data from the 117th Congress from 2021 to 2022 found Rosen sided with Biden 92.5% of the time.

In the current 118th Congress, she votes with Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York 95% of the time. Mr. Rosen and Mr. Schumer voted together on 463 votes considered major, with only 23 voting against them, according to a ProPublica analysis of voting records.

Trump leads Biden in six battleground states: poll

“As Jacky Rosen struggles in the polls, he lies to Nevada voters and denies Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer’s policies,” National Republican Senatorial Committee spokeswoman Maggie Abboud said in a statement. “They are trying to cover up a history that has become a rubber stamp.” Fox News Digital.

Christy Wilkinson, press secretary for Republican Senate front-runner Sam Brown, Rosen criticized her voting record as “not bipartisan.”

“Putting what Joe Biden wants over what Nevadans need is not bipartisan. Nevadans will see through that,” she added.

Fellow Republican Senate candidate Jeff Gunter, a former ambassador to Iceland in President Trump’s administration, criticized Rosen’s ad, calling it “another attempt to deceive Nevada voters by rubber stamping the far left in the Senate.” “It’s a hopeless attempt.”

Another Republican Senate candidate, former Air Force pilot Tony Grady, accused Rosen of being an “extreme Democrat” who is serving as a rubber stamp for Biden’s “extreme policies.”

Rosen spokeswoman Johanna Warshaw disputed this in a statement to Fox News Digital, saying, “Jackie Rosen is one of the nation’s most extraordinary people for her political independence and record of nonpartisan service to Nevada.” He is considered one of the most effective senators in his party.” . ”

The rankings referenced by Warshaw include several analyzes of the relative bipartisanship and effectiveness of the 117th Congress and its members. Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy and the Lugar Center rank Rosen ninth among bipartisan senators for 2021-2022. The bipartisan index used by each group takes into account sponsorship and co-sponsorship of the bill.

The University of Virginia and Vanderbilt University Center for Effective Legislation also recognized Rosen as the seventh most effective Senate Democrat and analyzed her role in the 117th Congress. A lawmaker’s score was determined based on “a lawmaker’s demonstrated ability to move agenda items into law through the legislative process.”

Additionally, Warshaw noted that Rosen was the third-highest Senate Democrat to vote against his party in the CQ roll call analysis of the 2023 vote.

“The fact that Jackie never hesitated to put aside partisanship to do what was right for the country is clear,” the spokesperson said.

Rosen’s ad, which promotes a bipartisan image, was released just days before nonpartisan election analyst Cook Political Report changed its assessment of the Nevada Senate race on Wednesday. Battleground state matchups have been changed from “Lean Democrat” to “toss-up,” adding only three races: Arizona, Montana, and Ohio.
