HGTV stars Erin and Ben Napier fire back at ‘nasty’ comments about houses on ‘Home Town Takeover’

HGTV stars Erin Napier and Ben Napier have slammed social media trolls who left negative comments about homes featured on their show “Home Town Takeover.”

On Tuesday, Erin, 38, shared a video on Instagram showing herself in a car with her husband and co-star Ben, 40, filming for Season 3 of Home Town Takeover. He revealed that he was in Sebring, Florida. . ” The couple agreed, saying it was “awesome,” but Erin went on to slam haters online for criticizing the home they renovated on the show.

“My Instagram comments were really, really bad,” Erin told her followers, while Ben chimed in: “Terrible.”

“I’m really sorry for some of you,” Erin continued. “We know we’re designing this home for people who will actually live in it, and they’re reading your comments carefully.”

“You haven’t hurt my feelings at all,” she added. “But you’re being really mean to the people who live in this house. If you can’t think of something nice to say about their house…”

Erin explained that although she wasn’t affected by the criticism, the negative comments hurt her clients who appeared on the show.

“It’s going to hurt the feelings of the people who live in that house,” she said. “Everyone knows better. Let’s try harder, okay? Be kind. Just like I tell my girls, you can all grow up and be kind, okay?”

“Here’s the problem,” Ben added. “I’m worried that a lot of people out there are being rude and mean because they want to hurt people. That’s the saddest thing.”

“And if you’re on social media, unfollow me now,” Erin said. “thank you.”

“Or we can do it for you,” Ben said.

“If you want, we can do that,” Erin agreed.

Erin praised fans who left “kind” comments and concluded the video with, “Keep being yourself. You are amazing.”

Ben invited fans to visit Sebring or Laurel, Mississippi, where the couple, who married in 2008, live with their young daughters Helen and Mae. While Erin and Ben primarily renovated Laurel’s home while filming the original series, Hometown, the spinoff, Hometown Takeover, depicts the couple renovating other small town homes. It is.

Erin previously spoke out against social media critics in a July 2020 Instagram post. She announced at the time that she would turn off comments until 2021, which she said she felt was a “good decision.”

“With everyone in a constant state of panic, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to accept all opinions from all directions about everything at all times,” Erin wrote in the caption, along with a photo of herself and Ben.

She continued: “There’s too much noise. It’s like this: We each make our own beds and you can’t see how far the sheets on the other side are hanging. You can’t see what you can’t see.” Ta.
