Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the next NATO summit will focus on Ukraine’s membership.

Giving a speech at the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) headquarters to sign the 75-year agreement.th Blinken, who celebrated his birthday Thursday, stressed the need to curb Russia’s unchecked aggression.
Blinken said during last year’s summit that Ukraine did not meet the criteria for membership.
But he changed his tune this year, saying Kiev needed unquestioned support from the West.
“We know what we need: air defense, artillery, munitions,” Blinken said. “So, based on what we heard today, I believe that everyone, including the United States, will redouble efforts as necessary to find the resources that Ukraine continues to need.”
“Ukraine will become a member of NATO,” he concluded
If Ukraine is still at war at the time of accession, Article 5 of the treaty will be triggered. If that happens, the United States will be drawn into a full-scale conflict with Russia.
NATO’s next annual summit will be held in Washington, DC in July.
The Alliance currently consists of 32 members.Sweden became the latest addition to the alliance, officially joining NATO on March 7th.th.
