LSU running back avoids attempted murder charge in February shooting: report

LSU running back Trey Holly will not be charged with attempted murder in the February shooting that left two people injured, according to reports.

A grand jury on Friday dismissed the charges and instead indicted Holley on one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon or dangerous means, ESPN reported.

Holly turned herself in to police days after the Feb. 9 shooting at her apartment. Union Parish, Louisiana. He later claimed his innocence on social media.

“I was falsely identified, accused, and arrested. I am 100% innocent, and those who know me know that this is not at all in my character. I have no involvement whatsoever in the incident. Not involved.”

“I was at home and that was the scene of the incident. I was notified of the arrest warrant and wanted to fully cooperate, so I turned myself in. As the investigation is ongoing, I cannot provide further details.”

Holley’s attorney told ESPN that he plans to plead not guilty to the new charges.

Holly played only three games in his lifetime. 2023 Freshman Season, had 110 rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 67-yard touchdown against Army on October 21st. He gained 91 yards in the game and was named SEC Freshman of the Week.

Holley, a Louisiana native, broke the state’s rushing records and became the nation’s No. 4 ranked running back.
