Trump campaign expects to haul in $50 million at upcoming fundraiser

Former President Trump is expected to raise about $50 million at an upcoming Saturday night fundraiser, double the amount recently raised by three Democratic presidents for President Biden’s re-election campaign war chest. , a campaign official confirmed to The Hill.

The private fundraiser will be hosted by hedge fund billionaire John Paulson in Palm Beach, Florida.

The expected haul is double the amount raised by the Biden campaign at a New York City fundraiser last week. Biden’s star-studded event at Radio City Music Hall, which featured former Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, raised more than $25 million.

The event will give a boost to the Trump campaign, the Republican National Committee (RNC), his Save America PAC, and state Republicans under a joint fundraising agreement.

The fundraiser comes after President Trump and the RNC announced Wednesday that they had raised more than $65.6 million through April last month and had more than $91.3 million in cash on hand. The Biden campaign’s fundraising arm also had a very active March, with the campaign announcing on Saturday that it had raised $90 million in March and entering the second quarter with $192 million in cash on hand.

Seven months before the presidential election, Trump is trying to maximize his war chest as he seeks to recover from several economic blows while defending himself against charges in four lawsuits.
