Michigan man shoots Chiptole worker during brawl over guacamole

A fight over guacamole turned bloody at a Chipotle in Michigan, where an enraged customer shot and killed an employee.

Video of the scuffle shows the 32-year-old suspect firing a firearm and the 21-year-old employee attempting to grab the suspect’s sweatshirt as he leaves the store.

“I was just eating my bowl and I heard screaming. And I looked over and they were arguing. One of the employees went to the back, and I don’t know why. , while he was in the back, the customer walked around the counter and tried to grab the food and put it in the bag,” Witness Thomas Huber said. he told Fox 2 Detroit.

“Then the employees came back and they started fighting. Then we heard gunshots and we ran away as fast as we could.”

The employee was shot in the leg and taken to a local hospital in stable condition, Southfield police said.

The suspect, an unnamed Detroit man, fled the scene but did not appear to be in a hurry.

“He took his time getting out… probably 30 seconds after (the shooting),” said Michael Beals, who filmed the bizarre altercation.

“I was in my car and I saw him walk to his car, close the door and drive off. He wasn’t speeding or anything. It was strange.”

The gunman was tracked down at a nearby location shortly after the incident. It’s unclear what charges he will face in connection with the shooting.

Chipotle did not respond to requests for comment.
