Police in Florida arrested a Georgia woman on Monday for allegedly carrying out a shooting spree at the direction of God during a solar eclipse.
The Florida Highway Patrol arrested Tayron Nichelle Celestine, 22, of Georgia, and charged her with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful discharge of a weapon.
Police said officers responded to reports of an active shooter in Holmes County.
An investigation revealed that a woman, later identified as Celestine, checked out of a local hotel and told staff she was going to a gunfight at the direction of “God” in connection with Monday’s solar eclipse.

Tyrone Nichelle Celestine allegedly opened fire on multiple vehicles while driving on Interstate 10 in Florida after receiving instructions from “God” related to the solar eclipse.
Celestine was allegedly driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia plates when he entered westbound on Interstate 10 at the 112 mile marker.
Police say Celestin fired shots at another vehicle within five miles of entering the interstate, striking the vehicle multiple times.
Police said the driver of the car was struck by broken glass and was grazed in the arm by a bullet. However, the driver was able to move to the shoulder of the interstate.

A Georgia woman has been arrested by the Florida Highway Patrol on suspicion of firing a gun along Interstate 10 at the direction of God in connection with the April 8, 2024 solar eclipse.
Police said Celestin continued driving westbound when he fired at another vehicle near mile marker 167, hitting the driver in the neck. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital for injuries.
Officers conducted a traffic stop approximately nine miles up the road and Celestine was taken into custody without incident.

Officers searched the purple Dodge Challenger and reportedly recovered a 9mm handgun and an AR-15.

Celestine was taken to the Holmes County Jail and arrested on multiple charges, including attempted murder.
