Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in an interview Tuesday that he doesn’t need former President Trump’s “primitive” ideas on how to resolve the war with Russia.
In an interview with Politico and other news outlets, Axel Springer, Zelenskiy said he was ready to listen to President Trump’s war proposal, but added: If it’s an idea, then it’s a very primitive idea.”
“We need a very strong argument. We don’t need great ideas. We need real ideas, because people’s lives are at risk,” Zelenskiy added.
An interview is coming After the Washington Post reported that President Trump privately said this weekend that his plan to end the war in Ukraine includes pressuring Ukraine to give up territory to Russia, including the Crimea and Donbas border areas.

The report cited anonymous sources, including advisers to Trump and people who had discussed the issue with the former president. The Trump campaign did not respond to specific questions, but a spokesperson reportedly declined to provide information.
“Speculation about President Trump’s plans comes from anonymous, uninformed sources who have no idea what is going on or what will happen,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Caroline Levitt told the Post. told.

Politico reported Tuesday that Zelensky spoke respectfully of Trump, this year’s Republican presidential nominee, and said he wanted to have a constructive relationship with him.
Politico also reported that Zelenskyy, through an intermediary, encouraged Trump to visit Ukraine, and that Trump has expressed interest but has not said whether he will visit. Zelenskiy had previously invited President Trump to visit Ukraine.
