Person of interest identified in case of human leg found in Milwaukee County park

A person of interest has been identified in connection with a severed human leg found in a Milwaukee County park last week.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office announced that Maxwell Anderson, 33, was considered a person of interest for a severed foot found in Warnimont Park in Cudahy and was arrested last week after authorities searched his home. FOX6 Milwaukee first reported.

Police have not explained how Anderson became a person of interest in the case and say he has not been charged.

On Tuesday, April 9, prosecutors were granted a 72-hour extension to examine evidence. If not, Anderson may be released.

In court Tuesday, prosecutors asked for an additional 72 hours in custody and until the morning of Friday, April 12, to file charges against Anderson, FOX6 Milwaukee reported.

The severed human leg was discovered on Tuesday, April 2, at Warnimont Park in Cudahy. Human remains were discovered at three other sites in Milwaukee County less than a week later.

“Body parts have been found in various locations throughout the city and county,” criminal defense attorney Julius Kim told FOX6 in Milwaukee.

Investigators have not said whether the incidents are related.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office also added that someone at Warnimont Park found “two items” that authorities believe “may be related” to the investigation into the leg found last week.

Former Milwaukee Police Department Lt. Steve Spingola told FOX6 Milwaukee that a series of gruesome discoveries caught his attention.

“It’s very unusual to have someone mutilate a body,” he said.

He added that DNA, phone records and surveillance video will be critical to solving the case.

“You can see what law enforcement is going to do to put this together,” Spingola said. “It’s a big jigsaw puzzle.”

Although authorities have not disclosed Anderson’s relationship to missing 19-year-old Said Robinson, Spinola said a clear sign is that the family said they were invited to his hearing. .

“How does she come into contact with Mr. Anderson and where do their paths cross?” he said. “That’s going to be interesting.”

Robinson’s family sat in the front row of Anderson’s hearing. Her car was found burned over a three-day weekend near where police found her body parts and her remains.

Since Robinson went missing, her family has been collecting donations for search efforts, and as of Wednesday night, GoFundMe announced that the money would be used to pay for her memorial.
