California college student Noelle Lynch vanishes as her cell phone is found at LAX

A California college student disappears while driving across the state to Los Angeles, wrecks her car and ends up losing her cell phone at the ticket counter at LAX.

Noel Lynch’s parents last saw their daughter when the 23-year-old, a junior at Sacramento State University, left their home in the Sacramento area and drove south on April 1.

Lynch’s worried parents believe their daughter was vulnerable and left home in a “difficult mental state”. According to SF Gate.

They didn’t know where their daughter was until the next morning when they learned she had been involved in a crash at an intersection in Los Angeles.

“We didn’t know where she was going,” Mark Lynch told the outlet. “And the next thing we know, she was in an accident in Los Angeles between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd.”

At least two vehicles were involved in the crash, which severely damaged Lynch’s car, but no one was reportedly injured.

When Lynch’s mother, Kelly, heard about the crash, she booked a hotel for her daughter near Los Angeles International Airport and planned to visit her the next morning.

“We had no idea why she was in Los Angeles. I drove there early the next morning to help her.” Kelly told ABC10.

The college girl never showed up at the hotel, and her parents didn’t hear from her until around noon on April 3, when Lynch called her from a “stranger’s phone.”

Kelly Lynch eventually went to the building where she discovered her daughter’s belongings, including a backpack, and detectives obtained surveillance video of Lynch leaving without any bags, according to SF Gate.

Lynch’s father said it’s not like his daughter not to communicate with her parents.

“She calls all the time,” he said. “This is very out of character for her. She’s had a tough time, but she’s always called.”

“It was very difficult for her to get back on track and she got off to a few false starts,” said Mark Lynch of ABC 10’s Notre Dame.

Noel Lynch ended up enrolling in classes at Sacramento State University this spring to be closer to home.

“We were really happy for her because she was re-engaged and seemed to be making progress,” Lynch added.

The female college student was reportedly upset, anxious and disoriented, causing worry to her parents.

“We want to know that she’s okay, we want her back and we want to get her help,” Mark said.

The Los Angeles Police Department does not believe foul play was a factor in Lynch’s disappearance.

However, according to SFGate, Mark Lynch does not believe his daughter is “sitting in a coffee shop in Marina del Rey” and suspects foul play.
