Many politicians have made outlandish claims, but Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) may now crush them all.
Speaking at Houston’s Booker R. Washington High School on Monday, Jackson Lee not only called the moon a “planet,” but also said, “A full moon is a perfectly round circle made up mostly of gas. And that’s the reason for this question.” Why or how can we humans live on the moon? ”
“Can Gus do that?” she asked, then added: “The sun is a very powerful source of heat, but it is almost impossible to get close to it.”
Glenn Beck and Pat Gray couldn’t believe their ears.
“Can we play again?” Glenn asks. “Because no one laughs.”
Jackson Lee further claimed that NASA would return to the moon within a few years.
“The moon is easier to work with, and you’ll know very quickly that NASA is going back to the moon. You’ll know not in an instant, but in years.”
“I don’t know yet if you’ll be able to live on the moon. But I don’t know about you, I don’t know how I’ll live on the moon and be at the front of the line to be able to survive.” “I want to be there – it’s another planet that we’re going to see soon,” she added.
While this is a nice idea, not only is the moon not a planet, but if the moon is made up of gas, it makes little sense to land on or live on the moon.
“To be standing on a gaseous moon,” Gray says incredulously. “She should never talk about space or anything else for that matter again.”
