Baltimore Orioles rookie explains on-field ritual

Jackson Holiday, a second-generation Major League Baseball player, explained his faith and on-field traditions that fans noticed upon his debut.

Holliday is the son of World Series champion Matt Holliday, who retired just six years before his son’s first game with the Baltimore Orioles.

Shortly after the game started, reporters noticed that the 20-year-old may have made a mark behind second base, where he was playing. Holliday explained that displaying her faith has always been part of her daily routine.

“In the bottom of the first inning, just before the inning started, you went behind second base and touched the dirt. You drew something in the dirt. Is that a tradition for you?”Reporter asked him After the match.

“Well, drawing crosses is kind of a daily routine,” Holliday replied. “Honestly, I wouldn’t be here without Jesus. His love poured into me and gave me the ability to play baseball. And I’m here today. “I probably wouldn’t be anywhere without him,” the rookie explained.

“It’s like a routine that you do before every inning, at the beginning of the game when you’re fielding, or before you take an at-bat. Just thank the Lord,” he added.

Jackson has consistently mentioned his faith throughout his journey to MLB. In an interview in 2022 his gatheringJackson believes that his parents introduced him to religion, which helped him build his foundation as a person.

“Faith has always been important to me,” he told the outlet before the MLB Draft. “I am so grateful that I was raised in a Christian home and had great examples around me of how to be a follower of Christ.”

“Faith plays a huge role in baseball and in my life. I want to glorify the Lord in everything I do and what I do on the field and what I carry on and off the field. “I try to express that through people,” he said. Added.

After making his major league debut, Holiday was asked how it felt to be part of another generation of baseball players.

“What did it mean to you to be sitting watching your father play his first major league game after years of watching him at major league stadiums?” Journalist asked.

“It’s really cool to look over there and see him and my brother and my grandfather sitting on the line. It was really great to see them and it’s quite an experience.”

Holiday has a $740,000 entry-level contract with the Baltimore Orioles.according to spot rackHe received an $8.19 million signing bonus from the organization in 2020.
