Michaela Montgomery, the woman who made headlines for hugging former President Donald Trump at Chick-fil-A, told Fox News on Friday that another attendee was “terribly” bullied and ostracized after she asked Trump for a photo. said that it was done.
Montgomery appeared on “The Ingraham Angle” and spoke about his recent interactions with Trump and the impact on other participants. Fox guest host Rachel Campos-Duffy asked Montgomery about other attendees who reportedly received backlash from classmates after attending the event. “Unfortunately, the young Spermanite, who enjoyed the opportunity to take pictures with the president, has since faced some serious bullying. She has been ostracized from the community. “She claims he made a mockery of the organization she works for. And how dare she take pictures with a guy like Trump,” Montgomery said.
“This is especially true for universities, especially HBCUs. Universities are supposed to be places where Black people can express themselves freely without feeling like they have to be a certain way to be accepted by their peers.” she continued. “Unfortunately, because that’s the feeling we feel when we’re in non-Black spaces and feel the need to code-switch.”
Montgomery said the attendees never publicly identified themselves as “Trump supporters,” but were demonized for requesting photos. The Conserve the Culture founder said Trump spent time talking to “each student individually” about what was important to voters and how they could get out their votes.
“So going to an HBCU should be a time where you can freely express yourself, whether it’s your social voice or your political identity,” Montgomery said. “It’s really, really sad to see some people who study policy decide to exercise their First Amendment rights and express themselves and their individuality.” [that] This can lead to being ostracized or demonized. She didn’t even come out as a Trump supporter. She was just someone there trying to get more information. She’s just trying to see what the candidates have to offer. ”
“Because it’s clear that the last candidate just said, ‘If you don’t vote for me, you’re not black,’ without showing any tangible results,” she added. “So the action we need to take as voters is to go to each candidate and ask them, if we nominate you president, what tangible results are you going to accomplish? And Donald Trump is a little bit I took the time to talk to each student and asked them, “What’s important to you?” How can I get your vote? We need to see more of that in our community as well. ”
On Wednesday, a video of President Trump visiting a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta went viral on Twitter, including a specific clip of the former president hugging Montgomery. In addition to Montgomery, a large group of people at the restaurant were courting the former president and potential 2024 Republican presidential candidate.
