The Academy Awards are doubling down on their embrace of woke social justice activism and DEI. The latest change is that the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, an Oscar staple since the 1950s, is now focused, at least in part, on fairness.
The Academy reportedly slipped in an announcement this week about next year’s Oscars that the Hersholt Award will now recognize individuals who have “promoted human welfare and contributed to redressing inequality.” This marks a significant shift from the award’s previous mission of honoring those whose “humanitarian efforts have brought merit to industry.”

The first change that occurred was report by Deadline is just the latest move by the Academy to make diversity, equity, and inclusion a major part of the Oscars.
As Breitbart News reported, this year’s Academy Awards became the first to require a DEI quota for all Best Picture nominees.
These quotas were found to have many loopholes; oppenheimer — a film with no minority characters — was named the year’s best film.
It remains unclear how the Academy will judge the Hersholt Award in light of the new changes.
In recent years, the Hersholt Award has been presented to celebrities and industry executives who have dedicated large portions of their careers to philanthropy. Past recipients include Paul Newman, Elizabeth Taylor, Jerry Lewis, Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, and Michael J. Fox.

For decades, this award has been presented during the main Oscar telecast. But in recent years, it has been relegated to the non-televised Governor’s Awards, usually held in November.
This year’s Oscars was another ratings disaster, especially considering the publicity hype surrounding the live show. barbie music number.
ABC television drew just 19.5 million viewers, the fourth-lowest audience rating in Oscar history. At the height of his popularity in the late ’90s, the Oscars drew as many as 57 million viewers for him.
