Former President Donald Trump raised about $1.5 million on Monday following the first day of his criminal trial in New York, Republican National Committee co-chair Lara Trump said.
The day’s huge gains confirm Trump’s belief that his legal challenges could recur and haunt Democrats.
“Yesterday, Americans spoke out in support of Donald Trump, with $1.5 million worth of funds raised for his campaign,” Lara Trump said. Said fox news fox & friends on tuesday. “The average donation was $28, so even when the Biden economy is at its worst, people are still coming out and supporting this president financially.”

Trump’s unprecedented trial began Monday morning with jury selection, the first day of what could be two weeks of proceedings. The trial could last until June.
Thirty-four of the 96 potential jurors remain the first choice in the jury selection process for President Trump’s criminal trial, court journalists reported Monday.
President Trump on Tuesday condemned his criminal trial, citing the latest polling that supports his assumptions about the political nature of the case.
“This is all coming from the White House because this guy can’t put two sentences together,” President Trump said. “he [Joe Biden] They can’t campaign — they try to take advantage of this to win elections. And it doesn’t work. It’s working the other way around…look at the polls. This is a false trial. ”
Democratic Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged Trump with 34 felonies for falsifying documents to cover up the sex scandal.

The trial will be the first criminal trial for a U.S. president. If Trump is convicted, he could face prison time.
The case is new york vs trump, New York County Supreme Court No. 71543-23.
