One of those residents, Gary Hartung, recently heard the sound of six motorcycles exiting the trail near the trailhead just around the corner from his home, police said.
There, Hartung filmed a video while telling the motorcyclist to stop riding on the pedestrian and bicycle path, WTMJ reported.

“I watched them as much as I could and tried to get plates, faces, etc. Then I walked among them and one guy hit me. I fainted and passed out. ” he said at the police station.
Hartung told WTMJ that the motorcyclist hit him multiple times and that he is now recovering with a broken nose, split lip and severe bruises to his eyes and face. Doctors say it will take a month for his face to heal.

Police are investigating the incident and searching for the suspect, the department said. However, as Hartung told WTMJ, many of the bikers were not wearing license plates.
Hartung’s wife, Laura, contacted the police department after the attack to shine a light on the public safety issue, saying, “I want these people to be held accountable.
