White House defends Biden’s claim his uncle was eaten by cannibals: ‘We should not make jokes’

During a visit to a war memorial near his home state of Pennsylvania, President Biden appeared to allude to the fact that his uncle was eaten by cannibals when his plane was shot down during World War II.

President Biden said, “He was flying a single-engine plane over New Guinea, and he volunteered because no one else was available. He was shot down in New Guinea, where there were a lot of cannibals at the time.” Stated. . “They never recovered his body.”

On Thursday, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said President Biden’s maternal uncle, Ambrose Finnegan (whom he calls “Uncle Bossy”), died during World War II when a plane flew into the Pacific Ocean. “I think it was an emotional, symbolic moment. As president, I had the opportunity to honor my uncle in uniform. As president, I was there and I spoke to people who were putting their lives on the line. I had an opportunity to go and represent this country,” Jean-Pierre said.

She went on to explain what Biden’s comments meant.

“So his uncle lost his life when the military plane he was on crashed into the Pacific Ocean after taking off near New Guinea. The president is honoring our sacred mission of equipping the men we send to war. “I emphasized my uncle’s story, appealing to honor the promise, ‘and to take care of them and their families when they return home,'” Jean-Pierre said. “And as he has repeatedly said, American veterans suck, or Americans suck, what should be called suckers and losers. It should not come from.”

Jean-Pierre’s final remarks were in reference to former President Donald Trump, whom President Biden claimed called soldiers “suckers and losers.”

President Trump is said to have made this remark during a visit to France in November 2018, when he was scheduled to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery.

The allegations, published anonymously in The Atlantic, include allegations that President Trump referred to those killed in World War I as “losers” and “sucks” at a U.S. military cemetery in France. It describes multiple offensive comments allegedly made against U.S. military personnel. 2018.
