Trump calls for Republicans to vote early and absentee

Former President Trump urged Republicans to embrace the possibility of all voting ahead of the 2024 presidential election, after slamming the practice during the 2020 election.

“Absentee voting, early voting, and Election Day voting are all good options. Republicans must plan, register, and vote.” ex-president declared in an all-caps letter from his social media company Truth Social.

The post suggests Trump is trying to broaden the horizons of Republican voters, who have long been skeptical of anything other than in-person, same-day voting.

President Trump has said in the past that he has no problem with absentee voting (votes by mail that require an excuse such as illness or disability), but he has long had problems with widespread mail-in voting for the general public. .

This practice has become common in many states during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump has for years argued that mail-in voting was ripe for abuse and contributed to voter fraud, claiming that it tipped the 2020 election to President Biden.
