Ryan Garcia say he won $10M betting on himself vs. Devin Haney

Whenever a fighter steps into the ring in combat sports, he’s literally betting on himself, and Garcia doubled down on that idea in his boxing match with Devin Haney.

He claims he bet $2 million of his own money on him losing badly against Haney at +500 odds. He defeated Haney by unanimous decision on Saturday and allegedly won $10 million on this bet.

“If you’re going to bet, bet on yourself. On what we make. Eat good food. About 50 million a night (maybe more), not too shabby.” Posted by Garcia He announced on his Instagram that he had bet $2 million on himself. “I leave it to God to guide me in how I spend this money. Amen.”

The alleged bet remains questionable, as Mr. Garcia likely had to place the bet in an illegal bookbinding environment.

There are no receipts for shared bets, and betting on yourself in martial arts is highly controversial.

There’s no real way to confirm whether Mr. Garcia’s bet actually took place, and he likely won’t reveal any further details for tax reasons.

But we know Garcia is a gambler at heart.

He made a bet with Haney that he would make weight for the fight, and if he made it, he would give Haney $500,000 for every pound he lost.

Garcia weighed in at three pounds overweight, and Haney acknowledged that Garcia made good on a losing bet heading into the fight.

“Ryan honored 500,000 per pound.” Haney posted on X.

Garcia lost a total of $1.5 million in bets due to a weighing error, but is said to have won at least $8.5 million in stakes, in addition to fight money and pay-per-view percentages.
