The U.S. Senate late Tuesday night approved a bill that could ban TikTok in the United States, citing national security concerns.
This gives TikTok’s Chinese owner ByteDance nine months to sell its stake or face the app being blocked in the US.
As reported by Breitbart News, this comes after concerns among U.S. lawmakers that China could access Americans’ data or monitor them through apps. , the bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives on Saturday.

The bill now goes to President Joe Biden, who said Wednesday he would sign it into law as soon as it reaches his desk.
TikTok did not immediately respond to the move.
Previously, ByteDance said it would oppose any move to force the sale of its popular short video app.
