president biden A $95 billion emergency foreign aid package was signed into law this morning after the Senate approved the funding late last night after months of stalemate. In his remarks during the signing, he said the shipment to Ukraine would begin “within a few hours.”
“Today is a good day for America, a good day for Europe, and a good day for world peace,” Biden said at a news conference. “It makes America safer, it makes the world safer, it continues America’s leadership in the world, and everyone knows it.” (The Hill)
The aid comes at a critical time for Ukraine, with the country’s president in a close situation. Additional aid to Ukraine has been stalled in Congress for months due to resistance from some Republicans over whether the U.S. should approve additional funding for the country.
