LeBron still upset over not getting every MVP vote in 2013

LeBron James still struggles with not receiving all the votes for the NBA Most Valuable Player Award in 2013.

James won his second NBA championship that year with the Miami Heat and was named league MVP. However, James received 120 of the 121 first-place votes, making him the first player in NBA history to not be unanimously selected as MVP.

In an episode of “shop” James expressed that he remains troubled by a journalist’s vote fraud.

“I had that chance, too. If I had gotten all 120 votes, I could have been the first unanimous MVP. But I got 119 votes,” he said, giving the wrong number of votes by one vote. “He had one vote for Carmelo.” [Anthony]. ”

“Of course, this writer is from Boston. I know his name too, but I’m not going to reveal it to him yet. We’ll wait for the documents about that,” James said.

That writer was, and is, publicly known as Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. Washburn justified why he did not vote for James that year, stating that his own understanding of what an MVP is may be different than James’s.

“I had no idea I would be the only voter to remove LeBron from the No. 1 spot,” Washburn wrote at the time, according to . CBS News. “This is not Mrs. Wilson’s class. I don’t walk around asking fellow sportswriters the answers to U.S. history quizzes. This is not the Most Valuable Player Award, this is the Most Valuable Player Award. What am I thinking? Do you have it? [Carmelo] What Anthony accomplished this season was worthy of my vote. ”

James’ complaints echo those he voiced in 2016 after Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was named the first unanimous MVP.

James said of 2013 that he was “excited.” “But I knew all along.” [I wasn’t getting a unanimous vote].I knew that, dude,” he said. cleveland.com.

“It pushed me even further,” James said. “That’s it. I’m even more motivated.”

The forward admitted at the time that he believed it was a writer from New York who voted for Knicks star Anthony.

“I got the New York part right. It was ‘melody’…I couldn’t get the screenwriters right in Boston.”

However, BlazeTV’s Jason Whitlock believes James’ comments were “channeling his inner Michael Jordan.”

He wants us to believe that his motive is contempt. It’s fake. LeBron never lets his anger escape. “He runs away from joy,” Whitlock explained, “because he’s basically a fun person, but the so-called ‘culture’ says black people should be angry at the world. , pretending to be angry.”

“The world has treated LeBron wonderfully since we discovered his athletic ability at the age of 10. LeBron is very happy and always has been,” the writer and host said.

But that wasn’t the only problem James had in 2013. James said it still “stings” that he didn’t win the Defensive Play of the Year award given to Marc Gasol, even though he wasn’t named to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team that season.

“This is the only award I don’t have at home. That’s infuriating,” James said before comparing his award snub to singer Beyoncé’s failure to win at the Grammys. “I’ve talked about this before, but it doesn’t make sense. It’s pretty much like this.” [Julio Rodriguez] I mentioned Mr. B earlier. Why has she never won Album of the Year even though she has the most Grammys? ”

Blaze TV Contributor TJ Mo He added that James is one of the most “naturally gifted athletes” to ever compete, but consistently plays the victim card.

“God gave him more natural ability than virtually anyone who has ever existed. Yet LeBron has spent most of his career playing some sort of victim. I can’t do it,” he added.

James also claimed on his podcast that journalists who voted for such awards did not “watch the games” or “research” them.
