California Teacher Pleads ‘No Contest’ to Sex with Middle Schooler

A former middle school teacher in California has pleaded no contest to sexual abuse charges after being arrested last year for having sex with a 14-year-old boy in a locked classroom.

Michelle Christine Solis, 46, was the victim’s 8th grade teacher at Sycamore Middle School in Gridley in 2021 and “befriended” the victim on Instagram, the Butte County District Attorney’s Office said. I made it. announced Tuesday.

In the weeks leading up to the boy’s graduation, Solis began texting him and sent him four explicit photos of himself, prosecutors said.

She then “had sexual intercourse with him in a locked classroom on the day of the student’s eighth-grade graduation,” authorities said.

Gridley police began investigating after explicit photos and rumors began circulating in the community in October 2023, and detectives uncovered cell phone communications between Solis and the boy.

Solis was arrested in November and later released from the Butte County Jail on $15,000 bail “immediately,” prosecutors said.

As part of his appeal, Solis stipulated that he could be registered as a sex offender and face up to four years in state prison.

Her sentence is scheduled to be handed down on June 6th.
