The confusion of the past few days has been columbia university and other universities reminded Americans of the enormous amount of anti-Semitism that pervades American universities and how pervasive it is in institutions of higher education. But this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise to anyone who has paid any attention to the state of American higher education over the past few years. This problem is far more widespread than recent headlines.
The anti-Israel corruption in our education system runs far deeper than a group of college inmates reoccupying an asylum. Whether parents realize it or not, American K-12 public schools are also filled with anti-Israel hate and propaganda. And to address it, we need to tackle the education cartel made up of teachers unions, bureaucrats, and politicians that facilitates and perpetuates it.
Back in December, a group of about 40 parents publicly called On how the Biden administration will address anti-Israel rhetoric and propaganda in public schools. Their concerns were well-founded.
Research recently published in City Journal overview How anti-Israel political ideology permeates primary and secondary educational institutions. This includes “a ‘liberated ethnic studies’ curriculum, such as the one mandated by the state of California,” and how Israel is routinely cited as “an egregious example of ‘settler colonialism’ and the oppression of ‘indigenous peoples’.” Includes other lessons explained.
December report More sordid examples have been outlined, such as a pre-kindergarten lesson on “ethnic noses” published by The FreePress. Meanwhile, in early 2024, a large number of teachers in New York City Seminar There they obtained information on how to circumvent so-called “censorship” while indoctrinating students about the “Israeli occupation” and the “ongoing genocide in Gaza.” Countless other examples abound and require minimal effort to unearth.
According to the City Journal article, much of this pseudo-curriculum is driven by radical and progressive teachers union political leanings, which is not at all surprising. As with other political movements, most unions are very open about their ideological leanings when it comes to Israel.
The simple fact of the matter is that, at the end of the day, bureaucrats, teachers unions, and politicians are far more focused on political outcomes from public schools than on quality education. At the same time, most of this education cartel is ideologically captured by the pop-ideological trends that are captivating national politics at any given time and by the demands of political coalitions of the radical left. For now, this means that most of this includes anti-American civics, anti-biology against gender ideology, critical race theory, and—yes—anti-Israel, pro-Hamas propaganda.
But there are other issues that need to be addressed, such as anti-Israel groups working to inject their own weapons. Incorporating pro-Hamas perspectives into the curriculum of various places. At the same time, the International Qatar Foundation, at the direction of the pro-Hamas Qatari government, give money and resource to the Ministry of Education and institutions to further the geopolitical objectives of the pro-Hamas Qatari government and ruling class.
Israel is an important ally of the United States. Israel has the right to exist. Hamas’s barbaric terrorist tactics have no place in the civilized world. These should not be controversial statements. Especially not in classrooms that are supported by American tax dollars. Yes, these issues need to be addressed as they arise, and we need to completely purge anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda from our school systems. But playing whack-a-mole with a broken and flawed system is not a long-term solution to the problem. freedom of education.
Politicians masquerading as educators have no power to corrupt educational institutions or brainwash American students if the American people stand up and demand that power be returned to parents and students. right. It’s that simple. The best way to avoid unpleasant surprises in your child’s classroom is to create a system where transparency is the norm. The best way to ensure that hateful and harmful ideologies do not influence public school curriculum is to determine which curriculum your child is learning from, whether traditional public school, charter school, private school, or homeschooling. It’s about giving parents the power to choose. .
That’s the future of American education, and it’s what more parents are demanding every day. If we want to eradicate anti-Semitism and anti-Israel propaganda in our public schools, we need to disenfranchise the terrorist sympathizers among us and fundamentally re-empower the American people.
