Texas mom who fatally shot teenager breaking in through daughter’s window won’t be charged

A Texas mother who shot and killed a 14-year-old boy who broke into the window of her 8-year-old daughter’s home in December will not be charged this week.

“I’m so glad they can see it through my eyes,” Alia Wallace said. fox 4.

She said she was worried that her case would “lead to me becoming addicted to drugs or being separated from my children or something like that.”

A Tarrant County grand jury this week opted not to indict Wallace, meaning it did not find enough evidence to charge him in the shooting.

Wallace said she and her children are still receiving treatment for the incident.

“It’s still a little tough because I go to counseling once a week, but other than that they’re okay,” she said of her four daughters.

But she said her thoughts were still with the family of Devin Baker, 14, whose son lost his life by climbing into the window of their home.

“My condolences go out to his family,” she told FOX 4.

Wallace previously defended his actions to FOX 4, but was evicted for violating apartment rules that prohibit guns in federally subsidized housing.

Prosecutors say 85-year-old Idaho mother committed ‘justifiable homicide’ by shooting and killing armed home invader

“It’s just me and my four daughters left there,” she told the news station in January. “I was just protecting my daughters. I’m shocked that he was 14 years old. I hate that. I literally feel that way. And I’m so sorry. But at that point, I didn’t care about the baby. I had to think, ‘I didn’t know,’ when he was on the other side of that window, all I knew was that someone could come in and hurt me or my kids. All I knew was that there was. ”

Baker’s mother previously said that Baker slipped out of her home without her knowledge in the middle of the night before the shooting.

Police confirmed last year that Wallace had been the victim of multiple attempted robberies in the weeks leading up to the shooting and called 911 each time.

Her eviction threat was dropped after a lawyer took her case pro bono, and Republican state Rep. Carrie Isaac is also backing her.

“We just want to say thank you so much. We are forever grateful,” Wallace said of the support she received.
