A ship heading from Turkey to Gaza carrying humanitarian aid has been denied the right to sail by the International Ship Registry.
Freedom Frotilla Coalition (FFC), a grassroots organization organization The country, which is working to bring an “end” to “Israel’s illegal blockade of Gaza,” was contacted by the Guinea-Bissau International Ship Registry (GBISR) on Thursday and asked to inspect a vessel, according to a press release from the country. He said he made a “request.” FFC.
“On Thursday afternoon, the Free Fleet Federation was contacted by the Guinea-Bissau International Ship Registry (GBISR) requesting an inspection of our lead ship, Akdenes,” FFC wrote. “This was a very unusual request, as our ship had already passed all the necessary inspections. Nevertheless, we agreed.”
FFC said on Friday afternoon that “prior to the completion of inspections,” the GBISR notified FFC that the “Guinea-Bissau flag” would be “removed” from two FFC vessels, one of which carries more than 5,000 people. It was pointed out that it was a cargo ship. Massive humanitarian aid to Palestinians living in Gaza.
GBISR’s move was labeled “blatantly political” by the FFC, which added that it cannot sail without a flag.
“Without a flag, we cannot sail,” the FFC added.
FFC wrote:
In the communication informing us of this cancellation, GBISR specifically mentioned our planned mission to Gaza. It also made several unusual requests for information, including confirmation of the ship’s destination, possible additional ports of call, the port of discharge for humanitarian relief, and the expected date and time of arrival. It also required a formal letter explicitly authorizing the shipment of humanitarian supplies and a complete inventory of the cargo.
Again, this is a highly unusual move by flag-waving authorities. Typically, national shipping authorities are concerned only with the safety and related standards of ships flying their national flag, and not with the destination, route, manifest or the nature of the particular voyage. Just like when registering a car, the authorities won’t require you to detail all the places you plan to go with the car.
