CHARLOTTE, N.C. — New photos taken by Fox News Digital show the devastation left after a deadly shootout in Charlotte, North Carolina, that left four law enforcement officers dead and four others injured.
The brick house was badly damaged in the gunfight. Photos show the entire front of the house destroyed, exposing the interior. Debris is scattered in the front yard.
The shootout occurred Monday afternoon. It all started when the U.S. Marshals Task Force attempted to execute a warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Police said Terry Clark Hughes Jr., 39, fired at officers from the second floor of his Galway Drive home. He also fired at officers from the front and back of the house. Police said Hughes died at the scene.
Officials said more than 100 shots were fired during the gunfight. Law enforcement, including 12 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers, responded to the residence.

Investigators told Fox News Digital they are processing evidence at the scene.
So far, investigators have found an AR-15 rifle, a .40-caliber handgun, ammunition and magazines inside the residence after responding to the scene.
The four officers who fell were identified as Deputy Sheriff Thomas M. Weeks Jr. North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections (NCDAC) Officers Sam Polosh and William “Alden” Elliott were members of the USMS Fugitive Task Force. and CMPD Police Officer Joshua Eyer.
Officer Christopher Tolley, an 18-year veteran of CMPD, underwent surgery. CMPD says his condition is stable.

Officer Michael Giglio, a three-year veteran of CMPD, was treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital and released Monday.
Officer Jack Blowers has been with CMPD for one year. He was also treated for gunshot wounds at the hospital and released Monday.
Officer Justin Campbell, who has been with CMPD since 2023, was treated for a broken leg and released Monday, CMPD said.
At a news conference Tuesday, CMPD Chief Johnny Jennings gave an emotional update.

“What I’m trying to say is that our system is not quite where it needs to be, but…I think we’re really overwhelmed. We’re overwhelmed with the court system. . . . Our district attorney is overwhelmed by the docket we’ve seen in Charlotte-Mecklenburg, and I don’t have an answer for that,” Jennings said.
Mr. Jennings is Gunshots were fired by multiple suspects. Police are continuing to investigate whether there was a second shooter and whether additional charges will be filed.

Two female persons of interest who were in the home at the time of the shooting, including one 17-year-old boy, were taken into custody Monday afternoon and are fully cooperating with police.
