WaPo Claims Biden Does Not Know about Federal Funds Going to Rent Assistance for Migrants

Glenn Kessler, the so-called “fact checker” washington postas Joe Biden worked to refute Donald Trump’s condemnation of the rental assistance program, arguing that his lawmakers can’t be held responsible for the amount of money they’re spending on immigrants.

Kessler said in an April 29 edition of “Fact Check.” claimed Former President Donald Trump’s campaign said Democrats, including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer, are providing $500 a month in rental assistance to undocumented immigrants in Michigan.

President Trump and a Trump PAC called MAGA Inc. are warning supporters about a rental assistance program in Michigan called the “Newcomer Rental Subsidy,” and some of the millions of dollars Whitmer is funneling into the program. He pointed out that it comes from the federal government. If that’s the case, Trump and the MAGA companies are pegging their spending on Joe Biden.

But Kessler argued that Biden could not be blamed because he may not even be “aware” of the spending.

“This is a state program that received federal funding, but there is no indication that Biden is even aware of it,” Kessler argued in a fact check. “So running an ad claiming that Biden pays rent to immigrants who are in the country illegally is ridiculous.

Kessler added: “Very few people applying for asylum are receiving rental assistance, and the state says they’re in the country legally.”

Still, Kessler acknowledged that Democrats are using federal and state taxes to pay immigrants’ rent, even as Americans struggle to pay their own rent. he wrote:

Michigan officials say about 50% of the 485 applications have been approved, affecting 1,242 household members. Numbers are classified as follows:

  • There are 537 refugees.
  • 504 Afghans arrived under Operation Allied Welcome.
  • There are 69 people with special immigrant visas (people from Iraq or Afghanistan who worked for the U.S. government).
  • 61 U.S. citizens (children born to immigrant families after arrival in the U.S.);
  • Thirty-five Ukrainians have been granted humanitarian parole.
  • 24 asylum seekers (who have been granted asylum and are legally in the country).
  • Seven people participated from Haiti.
  • 5 Be a lawful permanent resident.
  • But back in Michigan, MLive.com explained How Americans are suffering amid rent increases fueled by Biden’s disastrous economic policies.

News outlets reported that a resident named Gavin Brown was paying $875 a month to rent a one-bedroom apartment in Grand Rapids, but his situation quickly deteriorated.

“The new owners wanted to increase Mr. Brown’s rent to at least $1,300, but a nearly 50% increase was not an option for Mr. Brown. Instead, they offered Mr. Brown a new location. They gave him a six-month grace period of $1,050 until he was found,” MLive reported.

“If I don’t find a better-paying job, I won’t be able to live in this town for long,” Brown said.

The headline of the article is, “Michigan’s double-digit rent growth rate is third highest in the nation.”

This is the same state where immigrants receive free money to help with rent.

Kessler’s rebuttal of Trump’s political criticism of Whitmer and Biden ignores the contested legality of Biden’s program that led to the impeachment of Border Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas by the House of Representatives.

For example, Biden’s lawmakers include granting “parole” to more than 1 million immigrants from a number of countries, including Ukraine, Afghanistan, and several South American countries.

As a result, a coalition of Republican-led states is suing the Biden administration over parole policies that have been used to admit so many immigrants.

If the court agrees with Republican politicians, or if the Supreme Court reconsiders the House’s decision not to intervene. USA vs. Texas In that case, Mr. Kessler would have to rewrite his column long after Michigan Americans have paid Mr. Biden’s inflated rents and hundreds of immigrants have received rent discounts.

Kessler’s column focused on what Trump and his campaign team said:

In Michigan, the radical left Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer, is handing out $500 a month in cash to people who take in illegal aliens into their homes. Isn’t it wonderful? She calls the scam “Newcomer Rental Subsidy.” In other words, she refers to illegal immigrants as people who come from prisons, people from mental hospitals, and often terrorists. She calls them newcomers, isn’t that great? And it’s all funded by federal taxpayer money distributed by the unscrupulous Joe Biden…Biden and Whitmer are selectively stealing your money to give free housing to illegal alien immigrants. , and asks you to quarter these foreign armies. That’s who they are: an army.

“Biden is helping newcomers to America from all over the world pay their rent. Are you talking about illegal immigrants?”

“Did you see that Biden is now paying rent for illegal aliens?” They receive benefits and we pay them in full. ”

Kessler rated all of this as “untrue” because he saw no evidence that Biden “knew” about the spending.

Clearly, Mr. Kessler is not happy with Joe Biden sitting at the president’s desk, even though it has always been accepted that whatever happens during an administration is ultimately the responsibility of the person in charge. I don’t think that responsibility will remain at the president’s desk.

Still, the program’s existence means that, whether Biden “knows it” or not, the federal government is spending millions of dollars on immigration while millions of Americans struggle to import and assist immigrants. It lends credence to President Trump’s main claim that he pays his taxes. They pay taxes to give immigrants an advantage, but they also pay rent and support themselves.
