Burgum says billionaires should support Trump

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum (R) on Tuesday called on billionaires to support former President Trump for the sake of their shareholders and America’s “prosperity.”

When asked about his message to billionaires across the country on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle,” Burgum said: Who cares so much about this country, what they’re going through, and how they stand up and fight every day for ordinary people in America. ”

Ingraham suggested that many billionaires, especially “Wall Street-type” billionaires, still plan to support President Biden.

“And his [Trump’s] All the policies are moving in the right direction,” Burgum continued. “If you’re a billionaire and you care about your shareholders, your family, your grandchildren, you should vote for someone who will bring prosperity to America and peace to the world. That’s what President Trump is trying to do. is.”

Burgum, himself a billionaire, ended his long-term bid for the White House late last year and endorsed the former president’s re-election bid in January. He became the first 2024 presidential candidate to publicly endorse Trump’s candidacy.

In his speech of support, Burgum highlighted President Trump’s policies on the economy, border and energy.

President Trump hinted earlier this year that Burgum could play an “important” role in the next administration if he wins in November, calling the governor “the most solid person.”

Burgum’s name has surfaced on President Trump’s list of running mates in recent weeks, amid speculation surrounding the former president’s choice.Axios reports Early this week The Trump campaign says it believes Burgum is a safe choice and can help attract moderate votes.

Burgum announced earlier this year that he would not seek re-election as governor of North Dakota and would retire at the end of his second term in December.
