Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kansas) is introducing a bill that would prevent the District of Columbia from giving local government voting rights to aliens, including illegal aliens.
In 2022, Democrats on the D.C. Council approved a plan to allow foreign nationals living in the District for 30 days to vote in local elections. This includes illegal aliens who have no legal basis to reside in the United States.
Marshall on Wednesday introduced the D.C. Elections Citizenship Requirement Act, which would repeal the D.C. Council’s ability to allow foreign nationals to vote in local elections and require voters in the district to be U.S. citizens.
“Joe Biden erased our nation’s borders, undermined our national security, and threatened our sovereignty,” Marshall said in a statement.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is a co-sponsor of the bill, and Rep. William Timmons (R-S.C.) is sponsoring the bill in the House.
