What’s the penalty for anti-Israel protesters? UCLA’s warning includes 1 crucial word

After police were called in to restore order and root out anti-Israel agitators at the University of California, Los Angeles, many are wondering: How will they be held accountable?

These protesters formed an illegal encampment on campus and remained there for several days before safety concerns forced the school to cancel classes for all students on Wednesday. Some refused to comply with orders to voluntarily leave, while others shouted anti-Semitic slogans and chants, but on Thursday, Los Angeles Police Department and California Highway Patrol officers attempted to clear the camp. When the suspects began to move, some resisted arrest and threw objects at the police officers.

Fox News legal analyst Greg Jarrett said Thursday that rioters may not be held accountable as law enforcement officers clear the UCLA protest encampment and arrest anti-Israel agitators. He explained that it is highly sexual.

“They will never be prosecuted for the countless crimes we have witnessed: vandalism, trespassing, and violating police eviction orders. I’ve seen throwing, assaults, things like that,” Jarrett said.

According to UCLA’s own warning, the university said the instigators “may” face some consequences, but did not specify specific punishment.

UCLA descends into anarchy as counter-protesters clash with anti-Israel camp: ‘Horrifying act of violence’

“The police should be commended for their job performance,” Jarrett said. “However, please understand that those arrested will be back on the streets within hours while their paperwork is completed.”

Jarrett placed the blame for the rapid turnaround squarely on Los Angeles’ own policies.

“The people of Los Angeles elected George Gascon as District Attorney, so none of the people being arrested will be prosecuted,” he said. “He’s a far-left progressive who, shortly after he took office, made it clear that the solution to crime was to open the prison doors, and he did that.”
