Indianapolis police wound man who pointed weapon at people, threatened them

Indianapolis police shot and seriously injured a man Thursday afternoon after he pointed a weapon at other people and threatened to shoot them.

Officer William Young of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said in an impromptu news conference that officers were dispatched to the scene on the city’s north side after receiving a report of a person with a weapon.

Crime in Fort Wayne, Bloomington, and South Bend

Police in Indiana reportedly shot and seriously injured a suspect who pointed a gun at people and threatened to shoot them.

Young said the man was “pointing a firearm at people (and) threatening to shoot them.” The situation then escalated and led to police firing.

The suspect was taken to a hospital where he was listed in critical condition.

Police authorities announced on X (formerly Twitter) that no police officers were injured.
