A dentist accused of killing his wife by putting poison in her protein shake asked a fellow prison inmate to plant a letter that made it seem like his wife was suicidal, police said.

KMGH-TV reported that James Craig asked inmates to leave letters in Craig’s garage and in his truck, Aurora Police Detective Bobby Olson said during a court hearing Wednesday. The defense argued that the inmate was not a reliable witness.

One of Craig’s lawyers, Andrew Ho, said the inmate only contacted authorities after an initial hearing last summer to review evidence in the case, which received widespread media coverage. , noted that the inmate could not accurately discern Mr. Craig’s skin color. truck.

However, the judge agreed that prosecutors had presented enough evidence to put Craig on trial on a new inmate charge filed last month of abetting tampering with physical evidence. The prisoner’s name was redacted from the document.

Craig has already been charged with first-degree murder and separate charges of abetting tampering with physical evidence. He pleaded not guilty to these two charges in November 2023.
