Arizona Governor Signs Bill Repealing 1864 Near-Total Abortion Ban

Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs quickly signed a bill Thursday repealing an 1864 law that bans nearly all abortions. Just that day, the Senate passed the bill and sent it to her desk.

Arizona Attorney General Chris Mays, a Democrat, said the 1864 law won’t take effect until June 27 at the earliest because of other ongoing litigation.
