On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher said that President Joe Biden is pro-Israel and that 2024 Republican presidential candidate former President Donald Trump has become more involved with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu in the past week. Although he has criticized the prime minister, he said his biggest critic was Trump. There has never been a pro-Israel president in American history.
Joshua Green, a national correspondent for Bloomberg Businessweek, said Mr. Biden’s position on the Middle East war is “a solid one, at least in terms of public opinion.”
“Well, I worked for the most pro-Israel president in American history,” replied Kellyanne Conway, a Fox News contributor and former senior adviser to President Trump.
Mr. Maher replied, “That’s right.”
Green also said, “Who has been very critical of Mr. Netanyahu this week?” Maher responded that Greene’s point that President Trump criticizes Prime Minister Netanyahu is true, adding, “It’s not like Biden isn’t pro-Israel either.”
Conway went on to say that Biden despises Israel and that the White House didn’t seem to care much about the protests until the optics of the campus protests turned against Biden, leading him to criticize Biden for his ridiculousness.
